about

CASSETTE SOLD OUT. 45 Limited Edition/Personally Hand-Numbered Cassettes.

This is our "Two Hit Singles & Two Unlistenable Noise Jams" EP. We made it so we'd have something odd to sell at the 2010 New England Popfest. It was made in haste. We regret nothing.

SIDE A: TRACK 1 Recorded & Produced in 2010 by Mickey Leonard and Andy Able. TRACK 2 Recorded & Produced by Jared Thompson & Noel Thomas in a matter of hours in November, 2010. Demo version of "(CAUGHT UP IN ALL THE) INTERLUDES", available on "THE ELASTIC NOSTALGIA."

SIDE B: TRACKS 3-4 Recorded & Produced by Jared Thompson & Noel Thomas in a matter of hours in November, 2010. Collaged together from much, much longer improvisations.

Cover Art drawn by DG.

Everything here is (C)2010 DG & THEFIELDRECORDINGS.

about

THE FIELD RECORDINGS are holding up filthy mirrors to everything they write about, trying to find their way in this first ... more Post-Discovery decade. Take that for what it's worth. All of this is theirs & theirs alone. They recorded their debut LP, THE ELASTIC NOSTALGIA, at Adorea Recording Studio with Travis Bell.

FINDINGS (e.g., "Your Brain will/does work without you.").

Track Name: We Will Become Strangers Faster Now
DIRECT TRANSCRIPTION: "I've met girls who are always saying their lines / 'Because there's always a camera on us somewhere, right?' / 'So anywhere you stand you're always on your mark' / Yeah, anywhere you stand you're always on your mark / You're always on your mark // Sure it was a threat like a gun you made with your hands / Like some old joke you said 'It's easy not to understand' / How all the scenery whips about / And how we get to seeing like there's no one else around / There's no one else around // I don't know where I am / Where Alienation / Gets truncated / I don't know where I am / Where Alienation / Gets truncated // I've met girls who are always saying their lines / 'Because there's always a camera on us somewhere, right?' / 'So anywhere you stand you're always on your mark' / Yeah, anywhere you stand you're always on your mark / You're always on your mark // I don't know where I am / Where Alienation / Gets truncated / I don't know where I am / Where Alienation / Gets truncated and we don't care."
Track Name: Untitled Demo
DIRECT TRANSCRIPTION*: "I can't hold all of this in my head at once / I've thrown my arms wide, not wide enough / For this / There were days when words would roll off my tongue / And now they only come out like spit // Words words so hollow-- / Days days so hollow / You could knock a sound out of them if you want / Words words so hollow-- / Days days so hollow / You could knock a sound out of them / You could knock a sound out of them if you want // Too fashionably honest, too sincerely caught up / I wish accidents were a sin / So I'd know where to go / To get forgiven for them / But they're not / But they're not / But they're not / But they're not / But they're not // Words words so hollow-- / Days days so hollow / You could knock a sound out of them if you want / Words words so hollow-- / Days days so hollow / You could knock a sound out of them / If You knocked a sound out of me / It would just sound like 'please.'" END TRANSCRIPTION.
